Flossing

Flossing cleans between the teeth, removing plaque from surfaces which cannot be cleaned by brushing.  Without flossing, these hard-to-reach areas can quickly develop cavities, even if the teeth are brushed daily.  Each side of each tooth should be cleaned with dental floss, including the far side of the back molars on each side of the mouth, top and bottom.

Although some people relegate dental floss to the occasional “emergency” use after eating corn on the cob or only floss in between their front teeth where it is easiest to reach, in actual fact flossing is an important part of daily dental hygiene and its neglect can easily lead to cavities.

If you are uncertain how to use floss to clean most effectively or would like other assistance with your preventive dental care, visit Minneapolis Dental and we’ll be happy to help.
